lyrics

When the levee, it breaks, we always blame the last straw, but it takes a whole pile of rotten sticks, before you waste all the good water behind the gates. Watch the straw get the blame while the sticks get washed away

The sticks catch all in the drainage ditch, the town it floods, it's dirty and it's wet, and we always blame the levee, we always blame the levee and it's last straw. All while the sticks and stones keep breaking bones.

One day a bird took straw from a field. It was used to build a home. Then it blew away and landed on the levee.

The water, it rose, higher then the rooftops, and the people left, everyone was angry, everyone had something to say. And the sticks and stones built the new homes while the straw was burnt away

Smoke form the fire was cast to the sky. Baby birds choked and died. they fell back to a bed of straw.
